What the standard covers
GOST 34278-2024 sets requirements for mechanical (coupled) splices of periodic-profile rebar: static strength, joint deformation, cyclic and low-cycle fatigue. This is what construction supervision checks when accepting nodes.
Key requirements
- Equal strength — the joint must carry a force on the level of the bar body (typically ≥95% of the tensile strength).
- Deformation — slip in the joint under load is limited.
- Fatigue — the joint passes cyclic and low-cycle testing.
- Documents — a quality certificate and test reports are issued per batch.
How conformity is confirmed
Conformity is confirmed by specimen testing and technical documentation (TU, certificate, reports). Lomax couplers are produced under TU in accordance with GOST 34278-2024 — the joint is accepted by construction supervision. We provide documents for every batch.
What this means for the designer and procurement
When choosing couplers, request GOST 34278-2024 conformity documents and test reports for the diameters you need. This removes questions at acceptance. You can select the splice type for your node in the coupler catalog; for specs and documents — contact the factory.
